prebiotic apple smoothie

Apples contain pectin, a type of fiber that acts as a prebiotic, which feeds the good bacteria in your gut.

Makes 1- 1 1/2 cups

Ingredients

1 cup filtered water (enough to just cover the apples in the pot)

1 medium apple

1/4 tsp cinnamon powder

2 clove buds

Instructions

  1. Peel and dice apple into small 1/2 inch chunks. Place in a small sauce pan with water, cinnamon and cloves.

  2. Bring to boil and reduce to low heat. Cook 5-10 mins.

  3. In a blender, pour stewed apples with liquid. Mix till blended well. If you prefer your smoothie thicker or thinner adjust the water as desired.

  4. Drink immediately. Served warm.
