Taking responsibility for our own energy and knowing how to protect it is an important skill to learn. Have you ever experienced a time when you met a person for the first time or worked with a client who after your interaction left you feeling drained, frustrated, upset, or any other emotion that didn’t leave you feeling good? Have you ever walked into a room or space that had a weird energy? Anytime we interact with the outside world we open ourselves up to taking on emotions that we don’t necessarily want from other people, places or things. Especially, for those who work in a service based industry. By practicing healthy boundaries and living with awareness, we will know how and when to protect our energy. We will be able to be less effected by other peoples energy and provide us the opportunity to stay in our power.
A few of my favorite tips on keeping your sacred space whether it be your body, home, office, yoga room, special place or person protected. Make sure to take the time if it’s in between meetings, clients or at the end of day. By making it a ritual and a daily habit you’ll be surprised at how effective this can be.
Smudging: Burn incense, sage, or palo santo around yourself and your sacred space consciously letting go of the negative energy.
Crystals: Work with protective crystals such a black tourmaline or smoky quartz. Wear them, carry them or place them around your sacred space.
Bath soak: Water is a power way to cleanse negative energy. Take a warm bath of epsom salts and soak.
Cleansing spray: Infused water with the essential oils of sage, palo santo etc. Spray over body, object, room or house.
Visualize: A visualization technique where you close your eyes and envision a bubble of light around your body creating a boundary between you and outside energies.
