Ayurvedic inspired mulled wine

This recipe is infused with herbs and spices that are warming and mildly sweet.

INGREDIENTS

Makes 6 servings/1 cup per serving

1 bottle of dry red wine

2 cups pomegranate juice

1 tablespoon whole cloves

1 tablespoon grated orange zest

juice of 1 medium orange

1 tsp saffron

3 cinnamon sticks

4 whole star anise

12 medjool dates

4 slices whole angelica root

4 thyme sprigs

2 rosemary sprigs

Directions

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a large sauce pan. Bring to boil over medium heat. Reduce to low, cover and simmer for about 30mins.

  2. Strain mixture. Serve warm.

    *Note: For a sweeter mulled wine add honey to taste
